With Best Practice London just around the corner, we asked Dr Nitish Raut – one of our valued Consultant Gynaecologist’s at HealthHarmonie – to give us his views on the upcoming event and community based gynaecology services generally.
“As Health Harmonie gets ready for Best Practice London, the focus on Women’s Health is very timely. One of the most significant changes in modern gynaecology has been the shift towards providing high-quality care closer to home. Community-based services are now a key part of that conversation.
Community gynaecology allows women to receive specialist care in familiar, accessible environments, without the delays often seen in hospital settings. Whether dealing with abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, menopause issues, contraception, or early cancer screening, being seen earlier and locally makes a real difference, both clinically and emotionally.
Reduced waiting times and fewer trips to busy hospital sites — avoiding the stress of parking, finding clinics, and long delays — combined with care in a quieter, more familiar environment, lead to better outcomes and a more reassuring experience for women
Moreover, community services work closely with primary care. They help GPs by providing timely specialist input, clear paths for further care, and reassurance when a hospital referral isn’t necessary. For women, this means consistent care that respects the realities of work, family life, and long-term health needs.
Events like Best Practice London highlight these care models. They offer a national platform to share successes, learn from experiences on the front lines, and help shape the future of Women’s Health services in the NHS.
Community gynaecology is not about moving care away from hospitals — it is about delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place, with women firmly at the centre of every decision.”
