Advice and Guidance (A&G)
At HealthHarmonie, alongside delivering appointments across a wide range of specialties, we also provide an Advice & Guidance service to primary care on behalf of Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
NHS England actively encourages the use of A&G to reduce the need for unnecessary face-to-face appointments. By offering timely specialist input, our service helps GPs manage more patients within primary care, minimises avoidable referrals, and enhances patient experience — while also supporting the upskilling of the general practice workforce.
Our A&G service is fully integrated into the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS) and commissioned directly by the relevant ICB. We guarantee a maximum 72-hour response time to A&G requests, though in practice our clinicians often respond much sooner.
For added convenience, our service includes referral management:
- If the reviewing clinician determines a patient would benefit from a face-to-face appointment, the A&G request can be seamlessly converted into a referral.
- Where onward referral to secondary care is required, we handle this on behalf of the referrer, ensuring both the patient and the GP practice are kept fully informed of the next steps.
Through our A&G service, we are proud to support the NHS in:
- Reducing unnecessary hospital referrals.
- Improving continuity of care for patients.
- Partnering with primary care to confidently manage conditions locally
