Don Williams nominated as AOP's Optometrist of the Year
Congratulations to Don Williams on his recent nomination as Optometrist of the Year. Don has been nominated amongst four others for the prestigious title, which will be awarded by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) in December.
Don triages our eyecare referrals and supports our community ophthalmology service in Birmingham and Solihull, and has recently become the UK’s first registered specialist optometrist to complete the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ laser surgery training. The training will enable Don to carry out a special type of highly effective medical laser surgery to safely treat patients with glaucoma and retinal conditions. The treatment can be carried using portable equipment that may enable the procedure to be conducted within the community in the future.
